If you have recently ordered an Alpha-Stim®, or even if you are a longtime user, you may have questions about whether you are getting the best treatment possible. We are here to help! In this article, we’ll cover some common issues that may prevent your device from working as well as it can.
Alpha-Stim is a noninvasive, handheld medical device that treats insomnia and pain. It uses Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES), delivered in microcurrents through two Earclip Electrodes that clip onto your earlobes, to bring safe, fast, and effective relief. For pain, two handheld Smart Probes are used to apply Microcurrent Electrical Therapy (MET) directly at the site of your pain.
Alpha-Stim is not a drug, so there is no risk of addiction or lasting side effects. Relief is long-lasting and often immediate, and nine out of ten users experience clinically significant results. Over 100 independent clinical research studies have proven the effectiveness of Alpha-Stim –research shows it outperforms medications. In fact, many of the people in Alpha-Stim studies were taking drugs during the study, but still met the inclusion criteria. So their effects are over and above the effects they had from drugs, if any.
But what if your Alpha-Stim does not seem to be making a difference for you? Don’t panic! There are some simple, easily-fixable steps you can take to ensure nothing is hindering the performance of the device.
Hydrate
Alpha-Stim will work best if you are well hydrated prior to treatment. The patented waveform needs to be able to travel through your skin effectively, and being dehydrated can reduce conductivity.
Use Conducting Solution
Make sure to saturate your Earclip Electrode Pads and Probe Electrode Pads with the provided Conducting Solution. If your Pads are too dry, you may not get effective results.
Change the AS-Trode™ Electrode Pads
If you have been reusing your AS-Trodes™ and they aren’t very sticky, change them out for a new set. Fresh electrodes work best!
Clean the skin on the area to be treated
For Earclip Electrodes, everyday products such as hair gels or even shampoo residue could interfere with Alpha-Stim’s microcurrents. Smart Probes should also be used on clean skin, as heavy moisturizers and other products may stand between you and a quality treatment session.
